Scarce Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Stenciled Eagle and Inscription "YORK PA.," Stamped "H B PFALTZGRAFF / YORK PA," circa 1870-1889, ovoid jug with flared spout, decorated with a stenciled design of a spread-winged eagle above the inscription "YORK, PA." Two spout chips and a minuscule spout nick. Large in-the-firing loss to base with long horizontal crack extending from it to the left. Some bloated spots to surface. Slightly-recessed, dark in-the-firing contact mark area to right side of front. Contact mark with 1 1/4" chip to body on reverse.
