Rare Pair of Stoneware Reclining Sheep Doorstops, attributed to the Pfaltzgraff Pottery Co., York, PA, circa 1920-1930, pair of molded sheep doorstops with Bristol-slip-glazed surfaces and brushed cobalt details, the ram with hand-modeled and applied clay horns. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market pair, found in Harrisburg, over forty years ago. Ewe with in-the-firing separations to reverse and a few in-the-firing base chips. Ram with losses to ears, a chip to tip of each horn, a shallow chip to underside of muzzle, a shallow chip to underside of tail, and a minor chip to tail at bottom edge. L 8 1/2".
