Rare New Jersey Rockingham-Glazed Spittoon, Marked "HANKS & FISH / SWAN HILL / POTTERY / S. AMBOY, N.J.," circa 1850-1852, twelve-sided spittoon decorated with streaks of reddish-brown and blue over a yellowish clay ground. Underside impressed with the rare Swan Hill Pottery mark, featuring a large relief swan. In difficult-to-find excellent condition. H 4 1/2" ; L 8 1/2".
