Contemporary Six-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug with Incised Bird Decoration, Signed "BH," Billy Ray Hussey, Bennett, North Carolina, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout, the surface covered in a tannish alkaline glaze and decorated with an incised design of a bird perched on a leaf below the number "6". Black-glazed highlights to decoration. Underside incised "6". Excellent essentially as-made condition with some firing cracks on underside. H 18".
