Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Bottles, Northeastern U.S., second half 19th century, both with cobalt-highlighted spouts, one stamped "BOSTON Root Beer. / F. GLEASON.", the other impressed with the cobalt-highlighted date and name "1874 / COMSTOCK GOVE & CO.". Root Beer bottle with some crazing to base area, probably in-the-firing, and some fine lines to spout. 1874 bottle with light wear where neck meets body, some fry to cobalt in impressed name, and a small pre-firing dent in underside. H (of Root Beer bottle) 10 3/4".
