Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, American, second half 19th century, a six-gallon jar with large abstract stenciled design, stamped "F.H. COWDEN / HARRISBURG," Pennsylvania origin; paired with a six-gallon crock with large cobalt tulip below a freehand "6", Midwestern origin. Cowden jar with large areas of exfoliation to reverse, exfoliation to one handle, two small chips to opposite handle, a large Y-shaped crack extending across front of jar, a salt drip to side of jar, and a few rim chips. Midwestern crock with significant, sticky grease staining and some tight lines to reverse.
