Scarce Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "MCKENZIE & JACKSON / BEAVER, PA.," circa 1860, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large brushed fuchsia vine design bearing five blossoms. Provenance: Recently found in Kentucky, this jar was purchased by the consignor's wife in the 1930s. Large horizontal crack at base, connecting to a thin Y-shaped crack on underside with 1" reglued chip on underside. A small chip and tiny nick to one handle. A small chip to opposite handle.
