Six-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Freehand Cobalt Decoration, attributed to D.G. Thompson, Morgantown, WV, circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and ribbed lug handles, freehand-decorated with a looping vine design at the shoulder, stylized freehand tulips at the midsection, and stripes throughout. Freehand underscored "6" at base. Essentially as-made condition with two contact mark on left side of jar, a contact mark / chip to reverse edge of left handle, and a contact mark at shoulder on reverse.
