Five-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Fantail Bird Decoration, Stamped "WHITES UTICA," third quarter 19th century, ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with very large slip-trailed design of a fantailed bird perched on a vine. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Includes Albany-slip-glazed lid. 1" restored spot to surface on left side near base. Restored 9" L-shaped crack from rim on reverse. Significant restoration to rim. Lid with small chips.
