Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Drum Decoration, attributed to William Macquoid, New York, New York, circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt design of a drum with sawtoothed rope embellishments, dashed rim and base, and two drumsticks above. Several chips to one handle. 3 1/2" crack from rim on reverse. Three small shallow chips to interior of rim. A few faint surface lines, presumably in-the-firing, on reverse. 1" line on interior of rim on reverse.
