Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Large Cobalt Tulip Decoration, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1870, ovoid pitcher with footed base and heavily-tooled collar, decorated with two large tulips extending up the front. Swag decoration flanking the spout and leaves on each side of the collar. Excellent size, form, and decoration. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a long-term Midwestern collection. Restoration to tip and right side of spout area. In-the-firing iron ping at base. Short, minor surface line from rim on reverse. Base chip with surface line on reverse.
