One-Gallon Stoneware Butter Crock, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed swag design on the front and reverse. Cobalt scalloped line decoration under each handle. Glazed-over iron ping on top of one handle. 3" crack from rim on one side. 1 1/4" in-the-firing surface line on interior of rim, not visible on exterior. Very minor 5/8" surface line on top of rim. A few extremely faint surface lines on underside, presumably in-the-firing, and not visible on the interior.
