Very Fine Redware Loaf Dish with Profuse Slip Decoration, American, first half 19th century, with coggled edge, the interior decorated with five foliate designs surrounded by an elaborate foliate border. One of the most boldly-decorated examples of this form we have offered, exhibiting strong color and minimal wear to the glazed surface. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example from an old Philadelphia estate. Rim chips. Approximately 1 5/8" x 3/4" shallow reglued flake at edge. Approximately 5 1/2" hairline from edge. Some knife marks to angled side on interior. L 13 3/4" ; W 10".
