Squat-Shaped Stoneware Jar, Stamped "PAUL : CUSHMANs," Albany, NY origin, early 19th century, approximately two-gallon ovoid jar with lug handles, decorated with the large coggled signature of Paul Cushman. Excellent form. Tight cross-shaped line on reverse, partially visible on interior. Smooth 1 1 /4" chip to top of left handle, possibly in-the-firing. In-the-firing separation on underside. A few in-the-firing iron pings with iron drips on surface. H 9 3/4" ; D (across top) 9 3/8".
