Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "W.H. FARRAR & CO. / GEDDES, N.Y.," circa 1860, highly-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a boldly-brushed tulip plant bearing three blossoms. Brushed "2" to left of decoration. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. In-the-firing flaws throughout cobalt. Small iron ping above maker's mark. Minor 1 3/8" Y-shaped surface line near end of one handle, not visible on interior. Chips to inner rim where a lid would rest. Minor rim nick.
