One-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Swag Decoration, Stamped "S. BELL & SON / STRASBURG," circa 1890, pail-shaped crock with squared rim and applied tab handles, decorated with brushed cobalt swags on the front and reverse, applied over whitish slip. Surface wear to interior and rim, along with rim chips. Lighter surface wear to handles, as well as one rim chip. Some light exterior surface wear. 2" in-the-firing vertical separation line at base, which extends 1 1/2" onto underside, a very small section of which is visible on the interior.
