Molded Redware Spittoon, Stamped "JOHN W. BELL / WAYNESBORO, Pa," circa 1880, molded in a scallop-edged form with rounded base and rim moldings, the surface covered in a streaky manganese glaze over a bright orange ground. Impressed with John W. Bell maker's mark on underside. Some shallow chips to underside at edge, some of which appear to be in-the-firing contact marks. An in-the-firing 7/8" dry spot / contact mark at base. Other minor wear. H 4 7/8" ; Diameter 8 7/8".
