Very Rare Shenandoah Valley Redware Cream Pitcher with Solid Green Glaze, Strasburg, VA origin, late 19th century, finely-potted pitcher with ovoid body, narrow base with foot, and flared collar, the surface covered in a mottled green lead and copper glaze. Excellent color, significantly rarer than the popular Strasburg polychrome glaze typically found on this form. Attractive mottling throughout ranging from a brilliant emerald green to darker tones. Provenance: Recently found in a Baltimore County, MD home. Wear to rim. Smaller areas of wear to shoulder molding. A small shallow chip and other light wear to foot. Some light wear to ridges of ribbed handle and a lightly-worn spot to lower handle terminal. H 7 3/8".
