Rare Shenandoah Valley Multi-Glazed Redware Pitcher, Strasburg, VA origin, possibly J. Eberly & Co., late 19th century, finely-potted pitcher with ovoid body, footed base, flared rim, and applied handles extending from the rim to the midsection, the surface decorated with heavy streaks of green and brown over a cream-colored slip ground. Excellent form, color, and condition. Literature: An example of similar form and glaze, sold as part of the Kelly Young Collection in our January 2010 auction, is pictured on p. 99 of William Wiltshire's Folk Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley and attributed to J. Eberly & Co.. Exceptional condition with only a few glaze flakes to rim and some extremely minor base wear. H 6".
