Rare Rockingham-Glazed Spaniel with Coleslaw Fur, Dated Nov. 19, 1861, American, possibly Bennington, VT or East Liverpool, OH origin, molded figure of a seated spaniel with chain, collar, and locket, decorated with applied clay coleslaw fur to head, chest, feet, and tail. Underside incised in script "Nov 19 / 1861". Dated examples of this form are unusual. Section of front leg reglued. In-the-firing separation on reverse of front leg, where it joins the body of the spaniel. Some minor losses to coleslaw. H 9 1/2".
