Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Face Decoration, attributed to William Macquoid, New York, New York, circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt design of a face emanating from a floral design accented with graduated blossoms. Highly unusual, abstract design. Restored rim chips. Some light staining. Minor 2 1/2" scratch or surface line on reverse, not visible on interior.
