One-Gallon Stoneware Jar, Stenciled “E.J. MILLER & SON / ALEXANDRIA, VA,” Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with freehand stripes and the stenciled inscription “E.J. MILLER & SON / DEALERS IN / CHINA AND / GLASS WARE. / ALEXANDRIA, VA”. Base decorated with a freehand “1 1/2” flanked by flourishes. Two tight vertical lines on front, measuring approximately 8” and 4”, partially visible on interior. In-the-firing chip near base on front.
