Large-Sized Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Spittoon with Rockingham-Glazed Interior, New York State origin, circa 1875, with footed base and rounded shoulder with carved semi-circular hole, decorated around the body with various leaf designs accented with dotted trails. Reverse with slip-trailed looping line designs. Interior covered in an unusual streaky Rockingham glaze with reddish-brown coloration. Two chips, some wear, and a few nicks to top edge. 2" line on top of rim with sliver-like chip and a faint 1 1/2" line descending from rim. 2 1/4" chip to top of foot. Glazed-over 1 1/2" line on underside, continuing 1 3/4" up base of spittoon. H 6 3/4" ; Diameter 11 1/2".
