Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Iron Oxide Decoration, Stamped "BOSTON / 1804," finely-potted ovoid jar with open loop handles and heavily-tooled shoulder, the upper and lower sections dipped in a reddish-brown iron oxide slip. This example includes the date "1804," which is somewhat unusual for early Boston pieces. 2" in-the-firing flake to front. Base chips. A minor nick and iron ping to inner rim where a lid would rest.
