Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Date "22," possibly Xerxes Price, Sayreville, NJ, circa 1822, ovoid jar with flared collar and applied lug handles, decorated on one side with a faint brushed insignia of an "X," and on the reverse with the cobalt date "22" with stripe below. Glazed-over stone ping at base with glazed-over cross-shaped line extending through it, connecting to crazing throughout underside. This crazing is not visible on the interior. An additional 4 1/4" glazed-over cross-shaped surface line near one handle, which is not visible on interior. A few rim chips and short in-the-firing lines from rim. An in-the-firing 2" separation line on interior of rim, not visible on exterior.
