Two Rare Pieces of Stenciled Advertising Stoneware, Western PA origin, circa 1875, a small-sized canning jar, featuring the elaborate stenciled advertising, "Manufactured for / S. Hutchison / & Sons / Matamoras / Ohio"; paired with a one-gallon cake crock, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "KOERNER & BRO. / GROCERIES / OHIO ST". Wax sealer with 3" x 2 1/8" reglued piece at rim, cracks, and chips on interior of rim. Cake crock with two large base chips and a large crack from rim, which connects to several other cracks on underside. H (of canning jar) 6 3/8".
