Eight-Gallon Open-Handled Stoneware Jar, Impressed "J. TRACY / 1879," Ohio origin, ovoid stoneware jar with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and open handles at the shoulders. Shoulder impressed "J. TRACY" and "8" above the large, well-detailed stamp of the date "1879". Later blue-painted highlights to impressed marks. Jar retains its original salt-glazed lid. Excellent size and form. Minor 3/4" line in rim. Wear to inner rim wear lid rest. Lid with chip to knob and two small chips to edge. H 20".
