Five-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Maryland or Pennsylvania origin, third quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and back with a vine bearing leaves and flowers. Several thin cracks on underside, some extending onto base area of jar. Horizontal in-the-firing crack at base. 2" hairline from rim. Small, glazed-over chip on interior of rim. Some staining.
