Stoneware Spittoon with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Shenandoah Valley origin, third quarter 19th centuty, with flared base, rounded top edge, and carved semi-circular hole at shoulder, the surface decorated with three groups of swags bearing a longer central swag. Several glued cracks in underside, with additional hairlines extending up sides of spittoon.
