Fine Two-Gallon Albany, NY Stoneware Advertising Jug, New York State origin, third quarter 19th century, cylindrical jug with sloped shoulder and semi-squared spout, featuring the slip-trailed cobalt advertising "Cushman & Co / Importers of / Wines & Brandies / 376 & 378 Broadway / Albany N.Y". Surface lines in handle, which do not extend through to opposite side of handle. Nick in shoulder on reverse with some short lines extending from it. An additional surface nick on reverse with some hairlines extending from it. A base chip. Some in-the-firing crazing to surface and a few in-the-firing lines at base on reverse. Small, inverted U-shaped line in spout. Additional short, minor hairline in reverse side of spout. Chipping to spout.
