Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Large Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "W. ROBERTS / BINGHAMTON. N.Y.," circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a bird with fan-shaped tail, striped breast, and wing with spotted spiral pattern, perched in a morning glory vine. Long crack on front. Small base chip. Short crack from rim above one handle. Faint surface lines to base area on reverse. Some light exfoliation to side and reverse of crock and interior.
