Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Dated 1843, attributed to Smith & Day, Norwalk, CT, approximately one-gallon ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with an abstract slip-trailed floral design with looping stem, above the cobalt date "1843". A small chip and minor nick on interior of rim. Some light bubbling to cobalt. A small, minor Y-shaped line under one handle, not visible on interior, which likely occurred in the firing. A few minor base nicks, probably in-the-firing.
