Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Exuberant Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to M. & T. Miller, Newport, PA, circa 1870, cylindrical jug with sloped shoulder and rounded spout, the front decorated with a very large tulip extending from a long-leafed stem. Cobalt brushed at handle terminals, along with an unusual touch of blue to top of handle's lower terminals. A very nice example of Miller brushwork. In-the-firing contact mark to top of handle. Nick to base of handle. A very minor spout nick. A minor base chip. 2" x 5/8" contact mark to side of jug. H 11".
