Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "E & L P NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT.," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a long-tailed bird perched on a leaf. X-shaped crack on front, with a small filled and colored chip to top of bird's head. Additional colored chip at rim. 3" in-the-firing separation from rim on reverse. Long colored crack from rim on reverse, beside another short crack. Small chip to one handle.
