Fine Glazed Redware Jug, probably Massachusetts origin, early 19th century, ovoid jug with rounded foot, tooled shoulder, flared spout, and thin strap handle. Surface covered in a lead-based glaze with excellent coloration, featuring red, orange, and brown mottling over a greenish ground. Spout chips and minor spout nicks. Two base chips, the larger measuring 1 1/8". A few minor glaze flakes to base. Light surface wear to area of midsection. Tight, inverted Y-shaped surface line, possibly in-the-firing. Small glaze flakes to handle. H 9".
