Rare Miniature Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Highlights, Incised "April 27, 1830," New York State origin, ovoid jar with tall collar and applied lug handles, decorated with the incised and cobalt-highlighted dated "April 27 / 1830" on one side, and with a brushed cobalt stripe on the reverse. Additional cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Exceptional size. Some flecks of dark, in-the-firing salt residue to surface. Small in-the-firing contact mark to rim. Small rim chip to side of jar, above one handle. H 4 1/4".
