One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "E.J. MILLER / ALEXANDRIA, VA," Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and flattened rim, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising "E.J. MILLER & SON / DEALERS IN / CHINA AND / GLASS WARE / ALEXANDRIA, VA." Cobalt stripes at shoulder. Brushed cobalt "1 1/2" flanked by flourishes at base. Some wear to cobalt. Traces of white paint to surface. Chips and wear to interior of rim.
