Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, James River, VA origin, second quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated on both sides with a large brushed cobalt 3 surrounded by a scalloped border. Shallow chip to end of one handle, possibly in-the-firing. Small chip to opposite handle. Two very minor rim chips.
