One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Butter Crock with Floral Decoration, Stamped "D.P. SHENFELDER / READING, PA," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and applied tab handles, decorated on the front with a tulip extending from a wavy stem with leaves. Crack from rim on front and reverse. 3" glazed-over crack from base on reverse. Y-shaped crack on underside, continuing onto base under both handles.
