Four-Gallon Cobalt-Stenciled Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "JAS. HAMILTON & CO. / GREENSBORO, PA," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with elaborate stenciled roses, a bold freehand stripe below rim, and additional roses flanking the number "5" at base. 1 1/2" chip to top of rim and additional roughness to interior of rim. X-shaped crack in underside, extending 9 1/2" left side of jar's front.
