Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Iron Oxide Decoration, Stamped "D.C.H," Mid-Atlantic or Midwestern origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied tab handles, the upper portion of the jar with dipped iron oxide glaze. Side of jar stamped vertically in small capital letters "D.C.H". Whether these initials are a form of signature is currently unknown. Two small filled chips on underside, as well as a filled in-the-firing separation on underside. Restored loss to one handle.
