Three-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, probably North Carolina origin, 19th century, thin-walled, ovoid jar with rounded rim and applied handles, the surface covered in a dark greenish-brown alkaline glaze. Incised below the rim with an illegible name, which appears to begin with the initials "R.M.". Several 3's, denoting three gallons, are also incised under one handle. Two shallow chips and some light wear to one handle. Small chip to exterior of rim. Tightly-glued crack around midsection.
