Rare Windsor, North Carolina Stoneware Advertising Jug, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1875, one-gallon, ship-chandler-form jug with tooled spout, impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising "JAS- F- TAYLOR / GENERAL MERCHANDISE / WINDSOR- N.C.". Windsor, North Carolina is located in the Inner Banks of the state, in Bertie County. Examples of Baltimore stoneware made for the Southern market are considered rare. 1 3/4" in-the-making chip to reverse at base. Two minor chips to molding at base of spout. Horizontal hairline at base of handle.
