Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Incised Game Bird Decoration, Ohio origin, second quarter 19th century, cylindrical jar with tall collar and flattened rim, decorated on one side with an incised and cobalt-highlighted game bird. Reverse decorated with an incised long-necked bird resembling a turkey, its eye in the form of an impressed asterisk. Excellent decoration on a small-sized jar, measuring between a half and one gallon. Heavy chipping to rim. Cracks on underside, extending onto base. One crack becomes a thin line and extending 5" up reverse of jar. H 9 1/4".
