Outstanding Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Bold Cobalt Decoration of a Cornucopia and Date, Stamped “HUBBELL & CHESEBRO. / GEDDES, N.Y.,” Dated 1868, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed cornucopia featuring a dotted and striped body with curled end. This lavishly-decorated design is flanked by the date “1868” to the left and the number “3” with flourish to the right. Excellent and rare decoration, featuring vibrant blue against a light clay background. Excellent condition with minor wear to one handle, some small areas of staining, and a few very minor, in-the-firing surface lines, which do not extend through interior.
