Early Anna Pottery Stoneware Pig Bottle with Inscription, Wallace and Conrwall Kirkpatrick, Anna, IL, circa 1865, molded bottle in the form of a pig with hand-modeled face and hole at rear. Face detailed with large nostrils, incised and painted eyes, and wide mouth. Incised on one side "Good Old Bourbon in a hogs-". Anatomically correct underside. Surface covered in a reddish-brown Albany slip glaze. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, which descended in a Midwestern family. Chip to one ear. Otherwise as-made condition. L 8".
