Stoneware Butter Crock with Lid, attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1880, low-walled, cylindrical form with applied lug handles, decorated on the front and back, as well as under each handle, with cobalt swags. Lid features swag decoration, but is probably not original to the crock. Crock with 4" restored section to rim area, including a restored 4" crack extending diagonally downward. Also, the crock has a few tiny rim chips, and a 2" hairline from rim. Lid with restoration to knob, salt drips, short line near edge, edge flake, and small chips to flange on underside. H (including lid) 5 1/2".
