Rare Six-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cake Crock, Stenciled "JAMES HAMILTON & CO.," Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875, wide, cylindrical crock with applied lug handles and semi-squared rim, decorated with freehand cobalt stripes, a stenciled cartouche surrounding the stenciled signature "JAMES HAMILTON & CO.", and a stenciled "6" with flourishes at base. Rare size and form. One side sunken. Broken into three pieces and reglued. Additional cracks from rim. A small chip to each handle. Two small rim chips. H 9 3/4" ; Diameter 14".
