Shenandoah Valley Multi-Glazed Redware Spittoon, Strasburg, VA origin, circa 1890, with pronounced foot, tooling near base, circular opening in top, and carved oval opening at shoulder. Surface coated in cream-colored slip, decorated with splashes of green and brown, and covered in a clear lead glaze. Heavy wear to top edge. Wear to openings. Large chips and wear to base. Y-shaped crack in underside, continuing partway up side of spittoon. Wear, small flakes, and two chips to wall of spittoon. H 3 3/8" ; Diameter 6 5/8".
