Rare Shenandoah Valley Redware Jar, Stamped "BAECHER & KERN / WINCHESTER, VA," circa 1882, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and lead-and-manganese-glazed rim and interior, the underside impressed with "BACHER & KERN" maker's mark. This rare stamp was used during the brief partnership of potters, Anthony Bacher and Adam Kern, in the year 1882 (Comstock, p. 363). Heavy chipping to rim. Glaze wear to interior. Base chips. A few flakes to underside. H 7 1/4".
